Case Study of the Status Quo of English Homework Design and Implementation in a Primary School in Beijing

摘要 本文采用个案研究法,对北京市某小学的英语家庭作业设计和实施现状进行了调查。主要通过问卷、访谈、文本分析法,调查了师生关于英语家庭作业的态度与认识、作业的量、作业难度、作业类型、作业要求五个问题。调查结果表明,该小学英语家庭作业设计和实施情况整体符合教育部门要求:作业设计数量适中,大部分学生能在预期时间内独立完成作业。但是仍然存在两点问题:首先,教师以及学生对于作业的认识存在偏差;其次,作业形式传统单一。基于此,本研究提出,教师和学生需要改变传统的英语家庭作业观;需要创新家庭作业形式,突出学生主体性。 This paper reports a case study implementation in a primary school in Beijing. With of the status quo of English homework design and the methods of questionnaire, interview and text analysis, a survey is made around five issues: people's attitudes towards and knowledge of homework in this school, homework quantity, homework difficulty, homework types, and homework requirements. The results show that in general, regarding English homework design and implementation, this primary school does pretty well in meeting the demands of the educational authorities: the quantity of their homework is proper and most students can finish their homework within the expected time. Meanwhile, there still remain two problems. First, the teachers' and students' thoughts on homework are improper. Second, the forms of their homework are not rich enough. Therefore, the authors suggest that both the teachers and students need to change their old homework views and innovate upon homework forms by stressing students' subjectivity.
