In the Yecheng Area, Buddhism reached its full bloom in the late Northern Dynasties Period. Around the mid sixth century AD, this zone replaced Luoyang City as the center of Buddhist culture and art in the northern Central Plains. Since the 1950s, numbers of Buddhist images have been unearthed from the Hebei Handan Yeeheng Site and its adjacent areas. Among them the most important find is the hoard of Buddhist statues discovered at Beiwuzhuang in the eastern suburb of Yecheng in early 2012. The present paper accounts briefly the discovery of the main Buddhist remains and images in the Yeeheng area and their chronological features, and makes preliminary researches on the material source and craftsman system of Yecheng images in the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi periods.
