摘要
大学校长对大学的发展起着至关重要的作用,因而校长遴选是大学管理工作的重要环节。选取美国六所不同的大学,对其校长遴选公告进行分析,以总结美国大学对其校长任职资格的共性要求,研究发现:美国大学在招聘校长时都注重候选人的学术背景(学术性特征)、领导能力及管理经验与能力(领导与管理特征)、集资能力、公关能力(商业化特征)和大学校长的亲和力、包容性(个性特征)等指标,在其他指标上呈现出差异性。美国大学对校长的任职资格要求对我国公开选拔大学校长的实践有重要的借鉴意义。
The president plays a vital role in the development of university,thus the principal selection is an important part of university management. Selecting six different universities in the United States,this study analyzes the presidential search statement to summarize the common qualifications of presidents in American universities. It finds that all the six universities highlight the following characteristics attached to president candidates: academic background( academic-related characteristics),leadership and management ability and experiences( leadership and managerial characteristics),fundraising ability and public relations ability( business-related characteristics),affinity and inclusiveness( personal characteristics). However,some differences exist in other aspects of the qualifications of president candidates in the case universities. The qualifications of American universities' presidents are of important significance to the practice of public selection of university presidents in our country.
