摘要
"龙"是中国文化中的十二生肖的集合体,是中国先民在生活的体验中创造出来的独一无二的神兽,象征吉祥如意,反映出我国文化中团结向上的民族精神。但近年来,具有积极美好意义的龙被译为西方邪恶代表dragon,产生了文化误读。本文基于文化相对主义,以中国龙的重译作为本论文的研究对象,对中华民族的复兴与国际形象的重塑做出贡献。研究发现,从文化相对主义的角度考虑,使用异化方式翻译龙,选用译本loong,有效避免了文化误读,并为其他文化负载词的翻译提供思路。
In China,LONG is the combination of twelve Chinese zodiacs as well as the sign of China,symbolizing auspiciousness. It is a unique mythical creature created by those wise Chinese ancient people in the practical living experiences,and it reveals such national spirits as solidarity and positiveness. Nevertheless,LONG,of positive and fine significance,is translated into dragon,the representative of evils,which leads to cultural misreading. So,based on cultural relativism,this thesis studies the retranslation of LONG,wishing to contribute to the rejuvenation of China as well as the reconstruction of its international image. According to the research,it reveals that considering from the perspective of cultural relativism,people could apply foreignization to translate LONG. Moreover,the selected translated version,loong,effectively avoids cultural misreading and it provides enlightenments to the translation of other Chinese culture-loaded words.
