摘要
近代基督教在华传播 ,文字出版是重要的手段。而上海正是基督教文字出版的中心。墨海书馆、美华书馆和华美书馆、益智书会、上海土山湾印书馆、广学会、中华浸会书局、青年协会书局等是当时教会的主要出版机构。它们在传播西方科学以推动中国现代科技的变革、用白话文翻译圣经等宗教读物以促进中国新文学的发展、编译学校教科书以促进中国现代教育体系的建立、统一术语译名的工作以推进西学引进和中国现代学术规范的确立、编印杂志和创办社团组织以倡导现代学术精神以及为近代中国引进先进的印刷技术等方面 ,对近代中国文化产生了重大影响。
Publication is an important means in the spread of Christianity in modern history. Shanghai used to be the centre of Christian publication. The major Christian publishing houses in Shanghai incuded London Missionary Society Mission Press, American Presbyterian Mission Press, School and Textbook Series Committee, Shanghai Tu shan wan Publishing House, and the Christian Literature Society of China. This paper discusses their important influence on modern Chinese culture. This influence can be seen in the rapid development in modern Chinese science and technology due to translations of western science. China gained a great deal of enlightenment from vernacular Christology and the Holy Bible in her rapid development of modern Chinese literature, and from the translation of textbooks in the great advance in modern Chinese way of teaching. It also gave impetus to establishing modern Chinese science standards for technical terms, initiated modern learning and the compiling and printing of magazines as well as mass organizations, and introduced into China advanced printing technology.
