摘要
《大地》以二十世纪初的中国社会作为背景,讲述了王龙一家在各种灾难中挣扎抗争的故事,它真实地反映了中国农村的面貌以及人与土地的密切关系。本文采用后殖民主义理论视角,从《大地》的主题、女性地位以及生活文化等方面分析作品的后殖民主义特征,并从赛珍珠的双重文化身份探究了她创作的动机,最后指出《大地》是传播中国文化的伟大作品,它架起了中西方文化交流的桥梁。
With the early twentieth century' s Chinese society as the background, The Good Earth describes how the family of Wang Lung struggle to fight against numerous disasters, truly reflecting the reality of Chinese rural areas during that period and illustrating the close bond between human and land. By using post - colonialism, this paper intends to analyze post - colonial features manifested in The Good Earth, including the themes, the status of women and the traditional customs. Meanwhile, the writing motive of Pearl S. Buck is examined from exploring her dual cultural identity. Finally, it restates that The Good Earth is a great work to spread Chinese culture and serves as a bridge between the East and the West.
