摘要
田纳西·威廉斯是美国最优秀的剧作家之一。《欲望号街车》被认为是他最具代表性的作品。本文旨在浅析《欲望号街车》的主题、主题成分及象征手法。田纳西·威廉斯以其独特的洞察力,成功地运用各种象征手法展示了现代美国社会工业化进程中传统南方和现代北方之间的冲突,揭示了剧中男女主人公隐秘、阴暗和狂暴、粗鲁的性格和心理,演绎了一幕现代社会堕落的悲剧。
Tennessee Williams is one of the best playwrights in America.A Streetcar Named Desire is considered the most representative work among his works.The aim of this paper is to analyze the theme,theme compositions and symbolism of A Streetcar Named Desire.With his unique insight,Tennessee Williams has skillfully used varied symbols to show the conflicts between the traditional south and the modern north during the course of America’s industrialization and to reveal the hero’s and heroine’s private,dark,turbulent,rude character and psychology,to deduce a tragedy of modern social corruption.
