The love theme in Milan Kundera's works originates from Aristophanes' definition of love in Plato's Symposium. Kundera investigates further Aristophanes words and gives some ideas about love and desire in the modem society. Kundera's thinking is actually a connection with Aristophanes. In addition, Kundera has practiced the destroying factors of the ideal of love in Aristophanes words, and raised doubts about love. This leaves to the reader a question: does love really not exist? Meanwhile, it also encourages the present writers to investigate the theme of love. Furthermore, through specific characters and plots in his works, Kundera has estab- lished his own ethics of the modem society.
