摘要
译者主体性因素分为两类:译者个体性主体因素和译者社会性主体因素。前者包括译者自身能力素质与态度,后者包括意识形态、诗学形态、权力等制控译者的因素。《红楼梦》英全译本译者霍克斯与杨宪益在双语语言文化能力和对《红楼梦》、翻译事业及《红楼梦》英译的态度等方面的个体性主体因素以及在赞助人目的、诗学形态、翻译策略等方面的社会性主体因素都存在不同程度的差异。对《红楼梦》英全译本的译者主体性对比研究为译本"评价迥异"现象提供了最强有力的阐释。
Elements in translator＇s subjectivity fall into two types： personal and social elements. The former involve translator＇s bilingual and bicultural competence, translator＇s attitudes, etc. The latter include ideology, poetology, power, etc., which manipulate translators. Subjectivity of David Hawkes and Yang Hsien-yi, as producers of full versions from The Story of the Stone, differs not only in their personal elements, manifested in their bilingual and bicultural competence and their attitudes to The Story of the Stone, to translation and to translation of The Story of the Stone, but also in their social elements, manifested in their patrons＇ skopos, their dominant poetology, and their corresponding strategies. This comparative study of their subjective elements helps explore the phenomenon of ＂totally different comments on different versions from the same original text＂.
