摘要
中医药膳名称文化内涵丰富,英译难度较大。以《红楼梦》中的药用汤、粥、糕点、酒等四类药膳为例,以霍克斯和杨宪益的两个全英译本为研究对象,分析药膳的文化内涵,讨论译本中的不恰当之处并提出修改建议,探讨二者的翻译策略与方法,以期为中医药膳名称英译提供参考。
Most of the names of Chinese medicated diet are rich in cultural connotations,which are consequently difficult to be translated into English.Based on the two English versions of The Dream of Red Mansions by David Hawkes and Yang Xianyi as research objects,this paper takes the medicinal soup,porridge,pastry and wine as examples to analyze their culture connotations,and explores the two translators’translation strategies and methods.It also discusses their improper translations and puts forward suggestions for revision,so as to provide references for name translation of Chinese medicated diet.
