摘要
中国大陆对田纳西·威廉斯的研究已有32年的历史,经历了对作家及其作品的介绍、审视与批评。本世纪初以来出现了比较研究、同性恋研究和作家作品在中国的接受研究。但较之于威廉斯丰富多彩的一生及创作而言,研究尚显薄弱。主要体现在研究多集中在剧作《玻璃动物园》、《欲望号街车》和《热铁皮屋顶上的猫》上,不免有重复之作,对威廉斯创作初期(30年代-40年代初)、后期(60年代-83年)及小说、诗歌等其它形式的创作涉猎甚少,视野有待拓宽。今后的威廉斯研究应在加强作品翻译的基础上,开阔视野,鼓励争鸣。
The study of Tennessee Williams in China's Mainland has lasted for thirty two years, with some introduction, survey and criticism. Studies like comparative study, gay study and reception study in China are of special interest since 2000. However, attempts still need to be made to investigate Williams's rich life and prolific production. Studies in China mainly focus on his plays like The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, but there are fewer studies on his early works and later works, and his novels, poems, short stories, memoirs and essays still remain to be explored. Based on more translations of his works, future studies on Williams should encourage more diversity in perspectives and opinions.
