In the later ages of Anglo - Saxon England, the development of production and commercial economy provided towns with stable material bases. Meanwhile, in the period of Danish wars, the measures which kings implemented for reeccupying the temitory generally stimulated the rising of English towns. Compared with the later middle ages, church played positive roles in the development of towns in this time.
