摘要 Chomsky及其合作者提出将语言能力分为广义和狭义两个部分。广义语言能力体现了人类进化适应的特征,狭义语言能力只包含递归能力,体现了人类和动物之间以及语言能力和认知能力之间的差异。Pinker和Jackendoff对此发表评论,从语言的各个层面着手,将语言能力重新进行定位。双方又再次回应,依据不同的理论框架就语言进化等问题展开论辩。 Hauser,Chomsky and Fitch (2002) propose a distinction between the faculty of language in the broad sense (FLB) and the faculty of language in the narrow sense (FLN).FLB results from evolutionary adaptation,while FLN is hypothesized to comprise recursion only,which represents the difference between linguistic ability and general cognitive abilities,as well as the difference between human language and languages of other species.The article has a far-reaching impact on different academic fields.Pinker and Jackendoff (2005) argue against their view,and stress the relationship between linguistic ability and general cognitive abilities,as well as the relationship between human language and languages of other species.Fitch,Hauser and Chomsky (2005) respond to their criticism by re-examining the evidence,and re-iterate their views.Finally,Jackendoff and Pinker (2005) propose their framework of language research,and their view of language faculty and language evolution.
