非英语专业学生英语词汇能力发展实证研究

摘要 运用综合性的词汇测试方法,对四个年级的160名非英语专业大学生的英语词汇能力进行测试,得出学生接受性词汇知识比产出性词汇知识发展快,两者之间的差距随着词汇知识的增加而扩大;在二年级结束以后,大学生的接受性词汇知识和产出性词汇知识的增长趋于停滞;大学生的词汇运用能力四年来提高不明显。大学生英语词汇能力发展的特征既符合语言学习的认知规律,也反映出我国目前大学外语教学在课程设置?考试导向以及教学方法中存在某些问题和不足。 In order to find out the features of Chinese college students' development of lexical competence during their college life, 160 non- English majors of four different grades were investigated. By administering a battery of vocabulary tests, collecting empirical data, and making statistical analyses, the following results were attained: 1 ) College students' receptive and productive vocabulary knowledge developed in their first two years of English study. The growth rates of receptive vocabulary knowledge and productive vocabulary knowledge in individuals were different, with the former increasing faster than the latter. 2) In the second two years of their college study, both the students' receptive vocabulary knowledge and productive knowledge almost stopped increasing. 3) In the LFP analyses, little difference was found in lexical richness and lexical variation in the students' compositions. The features of the college students' development of lexical competence agree to some extent with the current researches and theories on vocabulary acquisition in applied linguistics. The results of the study disclose some problems in college English teaching in China.
