摘要
中国地名拼音化(罗马化)的提出至法律地位的确立经历了近30年时间。拼音化地名在书写、读音和声调等方面仍然存在一些问题,而在国际社会接受中更是会出现读音偏差和意义缺失的倾向。目前,地名英译拼音化尚未取得一致认同,译界译地名仍然采用的是拼音加意译或意译。中国地名英译需要充分考虑国际社会接受的效果,以便更好地推进本民族在国际上的作为。
Almost 30 years passed from the initial motion of Romanization of Chinese Geographical Names (RCGN) to the establishment of its legal status as an international norm. But problems of writing, pronunciation and tone still exist. Applied abroad, the pinyin names are pronounced differently and lose meanings. Up to now, no agreement has been reached on the RCGN, and translators still adopt the methods of meaning translation plus pinyin or just meaning translation to deal with geographical names. Therefore the translation of Chinese geographical names may as well take the foreign recipients' reaction into consideration so as to improve China's communication with the outside world and promote the Chinese performance on the global stage.
