苔丝是小说《德伯家的苔丝》中一位富有诗意美和理想色彩的悲剧女主角。她的悲剧源于其出众的容貌和高尚的品格。从苔丝之美的角度来解读苔丝的悲剧,更能深刻体会在男权社会中处于弱势地位的女性的抗争。
As the heroine and main character of the story in Tess of the Durbervilles, Tess is not only beautiful and at- tractive in appearance but also has good qualities to an outstanding degree. Her tragedy stems from her outstanding beauty and lofty character. To analyze the causes of Tess ＇ tragedy from the perspective of the perfection of Tess, we can further understand her rebellious personality in male-dominated society.
