摘要
英语中的引申是一种普遍现象。英译汉时不仅有时词义要引申。词组、分句或句子的含义有时也要引申,英语引申的意境,可以从褒与贬、抽象与具体、词义搭配、概念大小、逻辑修辞、引申层次和引申范围七个不同方面来探析。
Extension in English is a universal phenomenon. In the course of translation from English to Chinese extension is needed sometimes not only in word meanings , but also in meanings of phrases,clauses or sentences . The artistic reality of extension in English may be briefly analysed from the following seven aspects, namely： favourable sense and unfavourable sense, abstraction and concretion , collocation of word meanings, enlargement or shrinkage of conception, logic and rhetoric , extensive level and extensive range.
