College Students' Language Learning Beliefs —A Survey of Non-English Majors

摘要 本文以宁波大学非英语专业二年级学生为调查对象,在元认知知识框架下探讨我国大学非英语专业学生英语学习观念的基本特点,分析高分学生与低分学生在英语学习观念上是否存在差异。调查结果表明:1)调查对象持有的部分学习观念对英语学习不利,教师应引导学生树立正确的英语学习观念;2)高分学生和低分学生在英语学习观念上的差异性并不十分明显,导致成绩差异的原因在于学习者能否有意识地灵活运用一些正确的英语学习观念来指导自己的学习。 The paper presents a survey of college students' English learning beliefs in the framework of metacognitive knowledge within a College English Course context in Ningbo University,a comprehensive university in East China. Major findings Of the current study are 1) non-English majors hold some mistaken and uninformed beliefs which might have negative effect on language learning, 2) belief differences between below- and above-average students are not very significant, especially those beliefs concerning learning strategies.
