摘要
文章从对言语活动的行为本质属性出发,阐述了言语行为框架及其形式、功能、情景间的运作规律;以此为观照,作者对翻译过程与译本特征开展了讨论,结果表明:由于翻译这一言语行为较之于原文创作时情景的改变,译者与作者在不同社会文化环境涵化下形成的不尽相同的经验与价值观,以及译者的主观性因素作用和贯穿于原文解码和译文编码之始终,这样译本无论在意义(功能)上还是言辞表征(形式)上都常常与原文不完全一致。就文学翻译而言,基于如上的原因和文学的本质与语言个性,文学作品的复译就应运而生,不同译本呈现出面貌上的千人千面并不足为奇。但另一方面,文章从对不同译本的具体分析,论述了文学翻译并不是"怎么样都行",而是在"原文"制约下的"创造性叛逆"——忠实于原文神韵、精神和意旨,而不是拘泥于对原文字眼的亦步亦趋。
Language use, as a behavior, is an interaction, within verbal behavioral framework, of three parameters： form, function, and situation. Translation, a subcategory of verbal act, is by no means an exception of such an interaction. The translator, as we know, has grown up and has been educated in the context which is incompatible to that of the author, hence, his experience and viewpoint of the world is not the same as the author. This, in turn, is sure to have a play, conscious or unconscious, in his decoding of ST and encoding of TT. As a result, in the light of verbal behavioral framework elucidated above, the TT would display its inconsistency to or deviation from ST in wording, meaning, or both. As for the literary translation, thanks to the linguistic uniqueness of literature, much more room is available for translator＇s subjectivity in the manipulation throughout translating, and, as the proof, the expression is found in the re-translation of the same literary works and discrepancy among translation versions. But, on the other hand, this doesn＇t mean that literary translation is what is called ＂to translate as you like＂, on the contrary, it is always governed by the source text, by which, we mean, the essence of literary translation, or ＂creative deviation＂, is geared to be faithful to the spirit, rather than the wording, of the original literary works.
