摘要
“功能对等”理论是奈达翻译理论的核心,20世纪80年代初被介绍到中国后,对中国译界曾产生了深远的影响。但近年来此理论开始被质疑甚至被全盘否定。笔者认为对“功能对等”理论持反对意见的人起因于对“对等”的绝对化理解,是对奈达的误解。本文将简要分析奈达“功能对等”理论的真正内涵和实现功能对等的原则,以期在翻译实践中正确理解和运用这一理论。
Eugene A. Nida is one of the greatest theorists of translation in the world. ＂Functional equivalence＂ is the core of his translation theory system, which has a far-reaching influence on the field of translation in china since it was introduced into China in the early 1980 s. However, recently, ＂functional equivalence＂ has begun to be criticized and even to be denied totally. Those who are against this theory, in fact, understand ＂equivalence＂ absolutely so as to misunderstand Nida. This article analyses the implication of ＂functional equivalence＂ and the principles to produce functional equivalence, in order to understand and apply this theory in translating practice correctly.
