The soul of poetry is metaphor, and love poetry, which reflects the sa me resort to human nature both in the east and in the west, is no exception. The shared experience about world between the Chinese and the English leads to their same mode of thinking. Different social cultures such as geography, hi story, religion and allusions of China and Great Britain result in their poets' differe nt modes of thinking. The same or different modes of thinking cause the sameness and difference of metaphors in Chinese and English love poems. This paper proves the cognitive nature of metaphor from the perspective of love poems .
