摘要
《论读书》自问世以来,广为流传,人们在欣赏译介的同时,也有人对它从词汇等方面进行过一些研究评论。本文试图运用功能语法理论对它的概念意义、人际意义、篇章意义进行一个较为全面的描写,以探求它的文体特色和深层内涵,并检验功能语法在文体分析应用中的实用性和可操作性。
Of Studies by Francis Bacon is a classic and has been widespread since it was published. Some people have conducted researches and made comments while appreciating it. However, so far, nobody has done any systematic stylistic description from the point of view of systemic functional linguistics. This paper is devoted to a considerably comprehensive description of the essay's representational, interpersonal and textual meanings so as to find out its stylistic features and underlying meaning and to test the practicality and maneuverability of functional grammar in stylistic analysis.
