Abstract In the first palt of the paper the author expounds the possibility of developing the study of translation theory into translatology, in the second he expresses his opinion of the guiding ideology, approaches and basic theoretical principles, in the third he talks about the theoretical basis China has achieved in the field of science of translation and in the last he airs his views concerning the foundation of uranslatology of China and offers his suggestion as to the organization and fund in earlying out the plan for the establisytment of translatology of China
