Emperor Gaozong of the Song dynasty was a master calligrapher held in high esteem by critics generation after generation. Published here are well documented works referred to or copied in books such as Shiqu Baoji and Sanxitang Fatie. They are valuable not merely as a calligraphic work, but as historical data concerning famous Song general Yu Fei's endeavors in resistance to the Nurchen invasion.
