摘要
推拉理论作为目前研究国际学生流动的主流理论,为理解国际学生流动提供了有力的理论解释框架,但是却忽略了对个人出国留学的内在动机的探究。本研究以一所中国东部“211大学”的来华留学生为案例进行了先探性研究(pilot study),从人口统计学特征的角度分析留学生留学意愿的差异。研究结果显示女性参与者比男性更倾向于出国留学;年轻的学生对兴趣价值的重视程度高于年长的学生;父母双方都具有高等教育学历的人对出国留学的期望和成就价值明显低于父母双方没有高等教育学历的人。
As the current mainstream theory in international student mobility study,the push-pull theory provides a robust theoretical framework for understanding international student mobility,ignoring the individuals’intrinsic motivation to study abroad.The pilot study undertook a case study of international students from a“211 University”in eastern China and analyzed the differences in their intention to study abroad from demographic characteristics.The results of the study show that female participants are more intended to study abroad than males.Younger students put higher interest value than older students when they decided to study abroad.Those who have both parents with higher education qualification have significantly lower expectations and achievement values for studying abroad than those whose parents do not have a higher education qualification.
