Focusing on the ontological aspects of Literary Cartography emerging in the last two decades, this essay explores three fundamental features of literary maps,namely,ideology,visual-textual narration and ontological spatiality.Power construction,as this study exemplifies, winds its way through the whole process of space-mapping and map-reading.In the meantime, spatial knowledge arises to be the accomplice of ideology and turns out to be an apparent or latent quest for power surveillance. Moreover, the literary plots are visualized by relative maps,a process in which the spatial backgrounds and narrational contents are well blended.Ultimately literary maps exhibit the ontological features of space via three dimensions, the physical, the narrational and the symbolic, which in return foreground the internal spatial logic of Literary Cartography.
