摘要
本文选取《资治通鉴》两个英译本中服饰术语英译为案例分析的对象,以接受美学理论为指导,分析两位译者的翻译方法和译文的接受效果。研究发现,两位译者使用的翻译方法包括功能对等、直译、直译加文内注释和描述性对等等方法。在探究译文接受效果时,发现功能对等翻译会导致审美距离过小,视域融合难以实现等问题。对此,本文提出建议,在典籍英译时译者应尽可能保留源语文化术语,构建合适的审美距离,以达到视域融合,更好地传播中国文化。
This paper studies clothing terms of the two English versions of Zizhi Tongjian from the perspective of reception theory. By analysing the translation methods adopted by the two translators and reception effect of the translation, it is found that the two translators tend to resort to functional equivalent, literal translation, literal tansltion plus intratextual annotation and descriptive equivalent. Besides, it is discovered that function equivalent leads to small aesthetic distance and failure of fusion of horizons. Therefore, it is suggested that, in the translation of classics, it is better to retain the terms from the source language to present appropriate aesthetic distance and realize fusion of horizons. Ultimately, the major purpose of classics translation as spreading the Chinese culture can be achieved.
