摘要
我国的文学翻译早期,由于文学意识的不自觉,文学翻译的目的不是为了文学本身而是为了宣教启蒙,文学翻译选材较为盲目,缺乏系统性。随着文学翻译规模的不断扩大,特别是"五四"新文学运动以后文学社团的蜂起,不同的文学倾向被直接反映到文学翻译思想中,我国的文学翻译观出现了为人生、为艺术的转向,文学翻译选材也随之变得有选择、有计划、有主题,从而促进了文学翻译的繁荣和发展,为新文学的发展奠定了基础。
The late 19thcentury and the early 20thcentury witnessed a full flourish of literary translation in China. Because of the weak literary awareness, the purpose of literary translation was not for literature itself but for enlightenment of the public. As a result, the material selection for literary translation was rather at random, thus unsystematic and unfocused. With the awakening of the translators'literary awareness, the development of literary translation and the improvement of its social status, and especially with the springup of various literary associations after the May 4thNew Literature Movement, different literary trends were directly reflected in the new turn of translation concept: literary translation should serve either for life or for art. Under its influence, literary translation became highly selective. The renovation of concept and the change in material selection contributed to the further development of literary translation and lay the foundation for the development of new literature.
