摘要
以2006-2011年中国A股市场非金融类上市公司为样本,依据"高层梯队理论",从管理者异质性的角度,研究了外界媒体对上市公司盈余管理行为的治理效应。研究发现在我国现有环境中,媒体对上市公司的报道数量越多,越会促使上市公司管理者进行盈余管理行为,媒体尚未充分发挥其外部治理作用。在此情况下,国有和非国有上市公司管理者团队的平均年龄越大,越有助于抑制盈余管理行为发生,而两者的平均学历则对盈余管理行为影响不大;国有上市公司管理者团队的规模越大,越有助于抑制盈余管理行为发生;而非国有上市公司管理者团队的男性比例越高,越有助于抑制盈余管理行为发生。
Based on the data of A-share listed non-financial companies from 2006-2011,this paper uses Upper Echelon Theory to empirically examine the effect of media attention on earnings management from the perspective of managers’ heterogeneity.The result shows that media attention stimulates the behavior of earnings management in China,and there is a positive correlation between the two.In this situation,it is more possible for the management team with an older average age to restrain the behavior of earnings management in both state-owned and non-state-owned listed companies,while their education backgrounds have little influence on that.Besides,the management with a bigger size may be more possible to control the behavior of earnings management in state-owned listed companies,and the management team with more male members will be more possible to restrain the behavior in non-state-owned listed companies.
