摘要
Thomas Hardy is regarded as a great 19th century novelist and 20th century poet. Readers can feel his pessimism in both his novels and his poems.This paper mainly focuses on the pessimism in Hardy’s poems by analyzing the image of birds in his poems and his tragic sense of time, from which we can understand Hardy further.
