摘要
自1990年代中期至2016年,中国学界对杜威思想的研究在如下四个方面取得了重要进展。第一方面是沟通杜威与马克思。许多学者认为,杜威的哲学与马克思主义共享实践哲学的基本立场。第二方面是沟通杜威与中国传统。一些学者认为,杜威与中国传统在批判原子化的个人主义、自然主义、知行关系等方面有共同点;一些学者从沟通杜威与中国传统的角度,深入研究了陶行知的教育理论和实践。第三方面是对杜威民主思想的研究。许多学者的研究指出,杜威是一个坚定的民主主义者;民主主义是杜威教育思想的核心。第四方面是对杜威的伦理学、美学和宗教思想的研究。这方面的研究发现,杜威思想的深层底蕴是对人的价值和尊严的强调;杜威教育思想中散发出人性的光辉。这些进展共同构成了中国学界重新发现杜威的序曲。重新发现杜威的学术契机主要有两个:当代西方哲学新的实践转向和20世纪90年代初东西两个集团冷战的结束。
There have arisen four kinds of significant advances in studies on John Dewey in the Chinese academic circle from the mid- 1990 s to 2016. First,many scholars began to connect John Dewey with Karl Marx. They found that John Dewey and Karl Marx had some common ideas on practical philosophy. Secondly,some scholars started to communicate John Dewey with Chinese traditional culture. They found that John Dewey and Chinese ancient thinkers had similar points on atomic individualism,naturalism,and the relation of knowledge and action etc. Some scholars studied Tao Xingzhi's theory and practice of education from this perspective. Thirdly,many scholars have investigated Dewey's thought of democratic education. They pointed out that John Dewey was a militant democrat and democracy is the core element of his thought on education. Lastly,many scholars inquired into Dewey's ethics,art theory,and religious thoughts. They found that John Dewey was a humanist and his thought of education had the glory of humanity. The academic achievement mentioned above means that the Chinese had begun to rediscover John Dewey. There are two major agents which lead to rediscover John Dewey. One is the new practical transition of contemporary western philosophy; the other is the end of Cold War.
