摘要
委婉语的语用功能主要是为了避免"忌讳",避免刺激和伤害他人感情,美化自我,掩人耳目等。同时,委婉语也可能导致跨文化交际障碍。
Starting with the angle of linguistics and usage of languages, this paper discusses the make-up and function of euphemism. The author points out that the language function of euphemism is to avoid 'taboo' and avoids incentive and hurting other people 's emotion to decorate oneself, to deceive the public and so on and that the euphemism can lead to the barrier of communication across culture.
