摘要
隐喻在词义的演变过程中起着重要的作用 ,它导致英语词汇的多义性 ,引起词性转换 ,并且是构成英语成语的重要支柱。隐喻不仅仅是语言修辞手段 ,还是一种思维方式。
Metaphor plays an important role in the evolution of vocabulary. It leads to polysemy and transformation of parts of speech and is the key basis of English idioms. Metaphor is not only a rhetorical means of language but also a mode of thinking. Metaphorical concept system fully explains that the evolution of vocabulary is consistent with human being's cognition.
