摘要
英汉两种语言都有丰富的习语,蕴含着历史宗教、民族心理等诸多文化因子。本文结合奈达功能对等理论,对汉语习语英译的策略进行了探讨。笔者认为,汉语英译时可采用类比、抽象、增添、省略、注释等等方法来实现,译者要想达到功能对等,应根据具体情况采用适当方法才能实现。
A great deal of idioms in English and Chinese,which mirror the national culture and characteristics of languages,are the cream of culture and language in human history as well as abound with rich cultural elements about history and geography,religious beliefs and national customs,national mentality and thinking models in different peoples. Based on Nida's functional equivalence theory,this thesis expliores the translation strategies in the English translation of Chinese idioms. English idioms can be translated into Chinese versions using the methods of equivalent analogy,equivalent description,adding,omission and paraphrase and so on. The author believes that the translators should choose the methods according to the actual context of the idioms are used.
