摘要
Heathcliff and Mao Jie are tragic figures respectively from Wuthering Heights and Jade Goddess of Mercy written by Chinese writer Hai Yan. Both of them took frenzied revenge because of lovers' betrayal. There are many similarities in terms of personalities and revenge processes also differences. In this article, the similarities of revenge mentality are psychoanalyzed by Freud's theories and the differences are explained by cultural as well as aesthetic differences.
