摘要
纵向研究了中国学习者的英语元音感知能力受年龄与学习年限的影响。辨别测试表明初学英语的儿童元音感知能力较弱。随着年龄的增长和学习年限的增加,感知能力有显著提高。到了初中后,中国学生的元音感知能力趋于稳定,但难达到本族语者的水平。另外,由于受母语语音的影响,学生对不同英语元音之间的辨别能力有所不同。
The effects of the age of learners and the length of learning on the vowel perception by Chinese learners of English wereinvestigated.The Discrimination test revealed that younger beginners of English had a relatively poor accuracy in distinguishingthe vowels.After 3-5 years of learning,older learners showed a great advantage over the younger learners.But the effects was notlinear.From junior middle school students to college students,the learners' ability to perceive the vowels seemed to stand still,and was yet hardly parallel to that of the NSs of English.In addition,Chinese learners showed different levels of difficulty in dis-criminating English vowel pairs due to the effect of the native vowel system.
