In recent years, the'FN(First name) + rank'style gradually becomes prevalent among some local administrators in the Government and the Party,as an substitute for the traditional style of'Surname + rank'in addressing or introducing officials. This paper tries to probe into the degree of its suitability on formal occasions by analyzing its illocutionary force from the perspective of linguistics, pragmatics, psychology, culturology and sociology.
