摘要
“异”是翻译研究的重要概念,译者对异的态度决定其翻译选择,进而影响着译本的面貌。对外国读者而言,中国古典戏剧在文学体裁、语言风格及文化风貌上展现了极大的他异性,其海外译介遭遇重重考验。2015年,法国美文出版社推出了中国古典戏剧代表作《西厢记》的最新法译本。该译本由法国当代汉学家蓝碁翻译,是中国古典戏剧海外译介的新里程碑。本文以该译本为研究对象,从文学体裁、语言形式及文化要素三个角度探究译者面对中国古典戏剧文本的他异性时所采取的翻译策略。研究发现,蓝碁秉持着尊重他异性的态度,提倡文化之间的平等对话,保留并传递作品体裁、语言和文化的他异性。蓝碁的《西厢记》法译本为思考中国古典戏剧如何“走出去”,推动中外文学互鉴提供了很好的借鉴价值。
The“foreign”is an important concept in translatology.The translator’s attitude toward the foreign determines their choice of translation,which also affects the presentation of the translated book.For foreign readers,Chinese classical theatre exhibits an evident otherness in terms of literary genre,language style,and cultural features,which poses numerous barriers to its translation.In 2015,the French publishing house Les Belles Lettres published the latest French translation of Xixiang Ji(The Romance of the Western Chamber),a masterpiece of Chinese classical theatre.Translated by the contemporary French sinologist Rainier Lanselle,this version represents a new milestone in the translation of Chinese classical theatre overseas.Through a close examination of this version,this article explores the translation strategies adopted by the translator with regard to the heterogeneity of Chinese classical theatre texts from three perspectives:literary genre,linguistic form,and cultural elements.It is found that Lanselle holds an attitude of respect toward otherness,advocates equal dialogue between cultures,and preserves and transmits the otherness of the genre,language,and culture of the work.Lanselle’s French version of Xixiang Ji sets a good example for the overseas promotion of Chinese classical theatre and the mutual appreciation between Chinese and foreign literature.
