摘要
斯图亚特·霍尔是英国文化研究的集大成者,他不仅开启了英国文化研究的大门,而且纵深发展了英国文化研究的理论内涵。文化研究最初的关注点在于“二战”之后的英国,工人阶级发生了什么。英国文化研究的崛起和“新左派”的产生是密不可分的。英国文化研究的批判对象日益广泛,其理论范式也随之更新换代。利维斯认为只有文化精英才能掌握文化领导权,而霍加特试图突破利维斯的话语模式,提出了工人阶级的文化观。威廉斯最终实现了对“文化—政治”的阐释转型,从而使“文化”摆脱了由少数精英群体构成的“精英”的话语系统。霍尔的文化研究受到前人的启发,以马克思主义作为理论起点,将研究重点放在对资本主义的现实批判,指明了大众文化的双向功能。
Stuart Hall is the collector of British cultural studies,who not only opened the door to British cultural studies,but also developed the theoretical connotation of British cultural studies in depth.The initial focus of cultural studies was on what happened to the working class in Britain after World War II.The rise of British cultural studies is inextricably linked to the emergence of the New Left.The critical objects of British cultural studies has become more and more extensive,and its theoretical paradigms have been renewed.Levis believed that only the cultural elite could master the cultural leadership,while Hogarth tried to break through Levis’s discourse model and put forward the cultural concept of the working class.Williams finally realized the interpretation of the transformation of“culture-politics”,so that“culture”got rid of the discourse system of“elite”composed of a small number of elite groups.Inspired by his predecessors,Hall’s cultural studies took Marxism as the theoretical starting point,and put the focus on the realistic criticism of capitalism,pointing out the two-way function of mass culture.
