Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a common autoimmune disease that can lead to systemic inflammation and erosive joint damage. The symptoms of RA patients may lead to severe disability and a significant decrease in quality of life.According to statistics, the overall risk of RA for women in the United States is 3.6%,for men in the United States it is 1.7%,and the global prevalence is estimated to be 0.46%.Although the pathogenesis of RA is complex and involves the interaction of many factors, the role of regulatory T cells(Tregs)in disease development and progression is receiving increasing attention. As a special subgroup of helper T cells,Treg plays an important role in main⁃taining balance and self tolerance in the body, preventing the development of autoimmune diseases.Treg cells in RA patients are character⁃ized by impaired function and phenotypic changes. They exhibit increased plasticity and decreased inhibitory ability on Th17 cells. In addi⁃tion to the inhibitory function of Treg cells, their effectiveness also depends on their ability to migrate to inflammatory tissues. With the increasing understanding of the mechanism of Treg cells in autoimmune diseases, targeting Treg for the treatment of autoimmune diseases has shown promising prospects.
