摘要
英国政治思想家欧克肖特以哲学的眼光审视教育问题,对大学自由教育提出了独到的见解。他认为教育是师生进行交谈的活动和个体学会成人的过程,自由教育在成人与交谈中发生。大学虽然是自由教育的理想场所,却面临着外界带来的发展困境,导致大学的自由教育精神逐渐衰微。为此,欧克肖特提出了大学应保障学生享有闲暇时间、开展师生间友好的交谈、重视学生形成自我理解、回归自由教育的本真等主张。
Oakeshott is a British political thinker who considers education from a philosophical perspective and puts forward unique insights about liberal education of university.He believes that education is an activity in which teachers and students have conversations and a process in which an individual learns to be a human.The university is the ideal place for liberal education but facing the development predicament brought by the world.The spirit of liberal education of university is gradually declining.Therefore,Oakeshott advocates that universities should guarantee students′interval,carry out friendly conversations between teachers and students,prioritize to students′self-understanding,and return to the essence of liberal education.
