Alternative triglyceride(TG)synthesis pathways have yet to be identified in mammalian cells.In a recent article published in Nature,Brummelkamp and colleagues reported that the acyltransferase transmembrane protein 68(TMEM68)/DIESL synthesizes TG in the absence of the canonical enzymes dia-cylglycerol acyltransferase 1(DGAT1)and DGAT2.
