摘要
在地缘利益驱使下,20世纪初法国驻广州领事企图利用未经证实的西沙“沉船事件”否认中国主权。这在当时未产生多大影响,不过后来法国人根据需要多次“充实”该事件的内容。20年代末30年代初,法国人编造包括“沉船事件”等所谓的“历史依据”主张占有西沙,虽然他们清楚地知道这些“依据”的漏洞所在,但依然与中国交涉并采取侵扰行动。法国还以“沉船事件”为说辞,要求英国“尊重”所谓法属安南的西沙主权,英国在对相关档案搜集与研究后,公开否认法国的要求,然而为避免卷入西沙争执,并未将沉船档案及研究结果公布于众。
Driven by geopolitical interests,the French consul in Guangzhou attempted to use the unconfirmed“Xisha Shipwreck Incident”(“沉船事件”)to deny China's sovereignty over Xisha in the early 20th century.It did not have much impact at the time,but later the French enriched the content of the incident multiple times as needed.The French weaved so-called“historical evidence”including the“Shipwreck Incident”to claim possession of Xisha.Although they were well aware of the loopholes in these evidence,they still negotiated with China and took intrusive actions.France also used the“Shipwreck Incident”as an excuse to ask Britain to respect the so-called French Annan's sovereignty.After collecting and researching relevant archives,Britain publicly denied France's request.However,in order to avoid being involved in the Xisha dispute,Britain did not disclose its wreck files and findings to the public.
