Objective To investigate the effect of hyponatremia on prognosis of elderly patients with COVID-19 infection. Methods The clinical data of 151 patients with COVID-19 infection admitted to Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University from December 2022 to February 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were divided into hyponatremia and normal natremia according to the blood sodium level at admission.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed, and Log-rank test was used to compare the survival of the two groups. To compare the prognosis of elderly patients with COVID-19 infection with different clinical characteristics.Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the effect of hyponatremia on prognosis of elderly patients with COVID-19 infection. Results Among 151 elderly patients infected with COVID-19,56 cases were hyponatremia and 95 cases were normal natremia.KaplanMeier survival analysis showed that the overall survival of patients with hyponatremia was lower than that of those with normal natremia(P=0.006).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that hyponatremia(OR=4.902,95%CI:1.453-16.537,P=0.010)was a prognostic factor in elderly patients with COVID-19 infection. Conclusion The survival of elderly patients with COVID-19 infection complicated with hyponatremia is affected.
