摘要
《齐物论》篇题歧义颇多,其英译主要有万物之齐同、万物齐同之论、视万物或物论为齐同、使万物均等的分类方式、万物生而平等五大类。陈汉生的英译译出了篇题的双重意蕴,难能可贵。葛瑞汉的译法和毕来德的解说最能揭示《齐物论》的哲学意蕴,将“齐物论”译为一种观物方式、思考方式或认知方式。译者的哲学思考、哲学立场在很大程度上会影响读者对文本的理解。
There are ambiguities in the title of Qi Wu Lun,the English translations of which are categorized into the following:the equality of all things,the doctrine of the equality of all things,the view of all things or the doctrine of things as unity,the classification method of making all things equal,and all things being created equal.Chad Hansen’s English version is commendable because it contains the double meaning of the title.Graham’s English translation and Billeter’s English interpretation reveal the philosophical implications of Qi Wu Lun,which interprets“Qi Wu Lun”as a way of seeing things,a way of thinking or a way of cognition.The translator’s philosophical thinking and standpoint influence the readers’understanding of the text to a large extent.
