At present,a new therapeutic concept-microbial community-oriented dietary intervention strategy provides a new approach for the prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis(OP).Based on this concept and the current research on osteoporosis through metagenomics, this article discusses the potential links between the three most widely used dietary patterns internationally(Western,Mediterranean and vegetarian),the Gastrointestinal microflora(GM)and osteoporosis, the changes of GM under the three dietary patterns were summarized, and the ways of regulating gut-bone axis to OP after the changes of GM were discussed. The result showed that in Mediterranean diet and vegetarian diet, the risk of OP decreased, while in western diet, the risk of OP increased and the incidence of OP increased. This review clarifies the evidence of the relationship between intestinal microbiome-linked dietary patterns and osteoporosis and looks forward to the possibility of implementing intestinal microbiome-oriented dietary interventions in osteoporosis patients.
