Ecofeminism not only affirms the similarity between women and nature, but also raises new questions about this relationship.Ellen Glasgow,a woman writer of American south, describes the complex relationship between women and nature in many novels.By delineating the internal relationship between the two,she constructs the women's identification with nature;at the same time, she challenges patriarchy's oppression, exploitation and domination of women and nature by shaping the close relationship between women and nature, which is presented in novels like Virginia,Barren Ground, and the Vein of Iron.Based on the theories of ecofeminism and deep ecology, and by analyzing the above⁃mentioned novels, this paper explores the identification of women with nature.
