文化意义建构视域下员工跨文化经历研究——以中外合作大学中国教职工为例

摘要 中外合作大学背景下中国教职员工(以下简称HCS)的跨文化经历在以往的研究中鲜少被关注。文章以文化意义建构理论(cultural sensemaking)为基础,通过半结构式访谈,围绕此类大学22名HCS的跨文化交际真实经历进行深入分析。研究发现,HCS的跨文化意义建构的经历大体上可以分为:身份建构、学习、以及关系建立三个过程。研究认为:HCS在这样的多文化情境中较好地发展了自身的跨文化交际能力;现有跨文化理论并不能完全解释多元文化环境中的一些跨文化交际现象;培养跨文化责任感之于当今时代有着重要意义。 Sino-Foreign cooperative universities,as a new product of China’s higher education reform,are at the forefront of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures,which formed a unique multicultural campus environment.However,existing research has rarely focused on Chinese faculty members who work in such a multicultural setting,especially on their intercultural interaction experiences.This study takes the University of Nottingham Ningbo China as an example,and investigates the Host Chinese Staff’s(hereinafter referred to as HCS)intercultural experience.Based on the theory of cultural sensemaking,a semi-structured interview was conducted to explore the true intercultural communication experiences of these HCS.This research has found that intercultural sensemaking process of HCS can be generally divided into three process,namely,identity construction,learning,and relationship building process.Research suggests that:HCS has effectively developed their intercultural communicative competence through their interaction with cultural others;The current intercultural theories cannot fully explain some intercultural communicative phenomena at multicultural setting in China;Cultivating intercultural responsibility is of great significance in the era of globalization.
