摘要
以成长小说为理论框架,从成长主人公、成长主题以及叙事视角三方面对《母亲》和《汉家女儿》中的女性形象进行解读,聚焦于女性成长的差异及原因探析。研究发现:《母亲》采用“他述视角”,围绕情爱展开,展现了母亲“小我”的“妥协式成长”;《汉家女儿》从“自述视角”切入,将女性成长放在民族命运变幻的框架下,描摹了宁老太太“大我”的“自赎式成长”。女性成长叙事的差异与作家个人的处境、创作意图等外部因素密切相关。赛珍珠和浦爱德倾向于展示中国女性的成长而非重复西方对中国女性的刻板化印象,这既是出于她们对中华民族的认同,也是源于她们表达自我的需要,她们以中国女性为载体,阐发她们各自的身份困境与救赎路径。
With the theoretical framework of Bildungsroman,this paper interprets the female images in The Mother and A Daughter of Han from three perspectives:protagonist,theme and narrative perspective,focusing on the comparison of the differences in female growth and the analysis of the causes.The study finds that The Mother adopts the third-person perspective,centering on her love affairs and presenting a compromising growth with a smaller ego;while A Daughter of Han is told from the first-person perspective,showing how Ning’s personal growth is closely connected to the fate of the nation,picturing a self-redeeming growth with a larger ego.The reasons causing these differences cannot be separated from the influence of external factors,such as the changes in the writer’s situation and the intention of writing.Both Pearl S.Buck and Ida Pruitt choose to present the growth of Chinese women rather than serotypes from the western world,which is not only out of their identity with the Chinese,but also for their own need of expressing themselves.They take Chinese women as the carrier to demonstrate their respective puzzled state of mind and redemption modes.
