The balance of T helper type 17 cell(Th17)/T regulatory cell(Treg) plays a significant role in maintaining normal immune function of the body, and it helps maintain immune homeostasis of the organism.Imbalance of Th17/Treg cell affects cytokines of the immune homeostasis and may cause immune disorders, which plays an important role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. The study of Th17/Treg cell equilibrium state as well as the related factors of rheumatoid arthritis is one of the ways for pathological mechanism of rheumatoid arthritis and related pharmacological studies of preventing drug. In recent years, many studies have been carried out on regulating the balance of Th17/Treg cell with Chinese medicine to prevent and treat rheumatoid arthritis. This paper summarizes research results of Chinese medicine and its effective components for regulating the balance of Th17/Treg cell and its related factors in rheumatoid arthritis. It provides references for basic research of rheumatoid arthritis, development of new Chinese medicine and clinical treatment.
